The Heritage
Cotillion program will feature a mixture of folk dancing, square
dancing, and contra dancing, arranged and called by Mr. Thomas Smith.
With more than twenty-five yea rs
of dance experience, Mr. Smith wishes to introduce you to the beauty,
grace, and simplicity of dancing based upon the old style of calling
in an enjoyable, family friendly atmosphere.
Schooled in the
Lloyd Shaw school of dancing, Mr. Smith has attended dance camps with
his family for years, studying not only American but international
dances. Referred to by many as the granddaddy of square dancing, Lloyd
Shaw interviewed American folk callers before their deaths to preserve
the oral barn-raising dances, publishing several books and teaching
dancers around the world.
Mr.
Smith lives in Millsap, TX with his lovely wife, Kathy, and their six
children.
